Flaherty - government needs to help create credit →
The private sector isn’t giving businesses the money they need to invest, but no businesses want to invest in this market. Even if the government gets credit available, who is going to take it?

Canadian Retail worst decline in 15 years →
Retail sales have suffered the worst decline in 15 years, but that isn’t really surprising. This article quantifies the situation. It probably will only get worse over the year, but hopefully Finance Minister Jim Flaherty’s stimulus bill, whenever it gets implemented, will help Canada overcome this economic hurdle.

Do you need a resume? →
A little rebuttal to my previous post. If you are like me, a student who is only now gaining relevant work experience and applicable skills, you probably need a resume to get your foot in the door. But once you start building up experience, tangible projects, blogs, and other things that are a testament to you, then maybe the resume becomes obsolete. I have always wondered if the people in...

Tips for a great resume →
Having been through a few resume development courses I have seen some god awful resumes. If it looks sloppy and is has too much writing employers don’t read it. It’s that simple. Be concise, brag about yourself, but with a certain tone of modesty, and make it clean. This link has some great tips. Good luck with your resume!

Motivate your team to get the best out of them →
It seems simple, but I have worked at a few places where this was completely nonexistent. Making people feel appreciated and apart of the company can reap major productivity. For all you future leaders or current leaders, this will only help.

Whitehouse Pushing talking points on Fox...as if... →
Reason number 342352345 why you shouldn’t take everything for face value that the media says. It is hard to get any unbiased opinions and usually things are said to satisfy some powerful group of people. The news is good to see what is going on in the world, but please be critical. Scott McClellan admits in this video to the White House using Fox commentators to get out their talking points. I...

GM may be done with job cuts in Canada →
GM seems to be done with job cuts in Canada so hopefully those who still have jobs with GM can now rest easy knowing their job is safe. Canada apparently has the most productive auto workers, which I guess is why GM doesn’t want to lose anymore.

I don’t know why people say you can always work at McDonalds if you aren’t too bright. The government has plenty of morons who have no clue what they are talking about. This link is a great example. And hey if things aren’t going so well you could always work for the government.

Paul Krugam on the Recession →
We might just need to sit back and ride this one out. Sure the government can help mitigate some of the damage, but I think only time can get us back on our feet. Paul Krugman has a great blog and is one of the top economists (http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/). Check it out.

How do we get out of this recession? Japan's road... →
Canada is an exporting nation and it appears that the major force behind Japan’s recovery was growing exports. This doesn’t appear to be good news. Exports are down for Canada and the world economy is hurting. Who will buy our goods? Let us hope that Canada gets out of this mess. We aren’t nearly as badly off as our neighbour to the South.

You need to give something to people…not people give something to you. Rule number one. Guy Kawasaki has a great blog (http://blog.guykawasaki.com/).

Guy Kawasaki (The Art of PowerPoint...) →
People are not very good when it comes to PowerPoint presentations. Generally they are too long, too boring, too messy, and most importantly far from concise. Guy Kawasaki has a great rule for PowerPoint - the 10/20/30. Read up.
